What to expect

  • These workshops are informal; however, you are asked to be ‘present’ for the smooth running of the workshop.  We cover off a LOT in a relatively small amount of time.
  • Mobile phones should be on silent or vibrate to allow the rest of the group to enjoy the workshop.
  • We will make one product completely from "scratch".
  • The other products will be supplied as a kit where you still get to make it, but the weighing has already been done.  Without this step the workshop can go well over 6 hours which is prohibitive.

We will cover the following

  • Why you should make your own.
  • Cosmetic industry:  Claims, Ingredients and user perception
  • Common Terminology, Safety
  • Basic principles: Equipment, Sterilisation, PH Adjustment, Heating & Cooling, Storing Ingredients.  Why some things go together and other not.  Active efficacy.  Organic skincare vs Natural skincare Cosmetic Industry:  Claims and regulations – function over quality (including market perception)
  • Which order to apply your skincare.

How it works:

  • Surfactants etc.
  • Treatments & Moisture (Humectants & Occlusives)

Practical – All activities guided

  • Adjusting PH
  • How to select your fragrance & essential oil blend
  • Using the kit to make product 1
  • Using the kit to make product 2
  • Product 3.  Weighing out your formulation & follow manufacturing principals to make your third product.

Supplies
