In this two-day workshop learn how to perfect the art of Luminous Flowers with expert guidance from Julie and Michael Freeman, internationally recognised pastel artists.
Julie and Michael are international award winning artists who share a love of pastel and realism. Both have had a fascination with realism since childhood and in both of their artwork they strive to create images that have greater depth and feeling than can be achieved with a photograph.
Julie is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Artists of NZ, (MPANZ), and Australia (MPSA) is in the Master Circle of IAPS and is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA). Michael has a Master of Fine Arts degree and is also a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Artist of NZ (MPANZ) and Australia (MPSA). He is an Eminent Pastelist with IAPS, and a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA) . Both Julie and Michael sell their original pastel paintings and signed Limited Edition prints. In addition both have gallery representation in the North Island and South Island.
Between them they have over 40 years of teaching experience, and currently teach workshops throughout NZ, and Internationally. Julie also teaches privately from their studio in Greenhithe Auckland. They are also Mentors for the International group Mastrius.
Day 1 Will be an exercise and we will provide the image. Our preferred surface is Pastelmat. Students bring their own surface and pastels/pastel pencils. ( NB We will have Pastelmat available for sale If needed )
Day 2 Students bring their own reference and surface/pastels needed
No membership discount for this workshop as it is organised / administered by the tutor.
Experience preferred but not absolutely necessary for this workshop.
What to bring:
We will provide a materials list of colours for Saturday and any other requirements in May 2024.
