KBW2.1: Clay Standing Lamp Workshop with Kim Boyd

Create your own, unique standing lamp from clay, a coral reef or light house with Kim Boyd.

Description

In this three day workshop you will plan and design your own standing lamp under the expert guidance of Kim Boyd expert ceramicist.

First day build your structure using hand-building techniques such as coiling, sculpting and slab building. Keeping in mind that you are designing and building a standing lamp structure.

Second day, refine your sculptural lamp by carving, smoothing or adding texture and creating holes and cavities where the light will shine through.

Third day, return to glaze and colour your bisque-fired lantern/light, thinking about colour and texture. This day will run from 10am to 1:30pm

All students will be provided with sculpting clay (10Kg), tools and all glaze.

Light fittings and wooden bases are not included. We recommend you purchase this before the classes so that you know the size of the base you will be building the clay to fit on/around.

30 minutes for lunch.  Bring your own / great cafe on site.
