Wonders of Watercolours with our popular tutor Pauline Smith offers students the opportunity to master their skills and techniques.

Description

Students new to watercolour or with only a little experience, will enjoy this course, which is designed to the learning of specific, basic,  watercolour painting skills. Each week students will learn a new technique and practice learned skills. Students will be professionally  guided to create bright vibrant colourful paintings.

Cost Breakdown Member: $240.75 Incl GST = $30.09 per class (12.04 per hour)

Cost Breakdown Non Member: $267.50 Incl GST = $33.44 per class ($13.38 per hour)

Prerequisites

Beginners and intermediates welcome.

Materials are available from Gordon Harris in Albany, up by the North Shore district courthouse. Gordon Harris kindly offers a student discount, please ask for it. Some paints can be purchased from Whitcoulls, Paper Plus, or Warehouse Stationery.

Paint student grade is fine: Tube paints please.

ultramarine blue, cobalt blue, new gamboge, raw sienna, alizarin crimson, burnt sienna, indigo or Prussian blue.

Optional extras perylene green, phthalo blue, hookers green light or dark, van dyke brown

Winsor Newton, Cottmans, Horodam, Daniel Smith,   all reliable brands for paint.

 Do not get Reeves or Marie’s paint or paper, or paper/paint from the $2  shop

Paper for Wonders of Watercolour

Fabriano 300 gsm  cp rough, 100% cotton,  2 sheets for the term

 A3 pad of Fabriano watercolour paper, 25% cotton, 300 gsm size.

 Also sketching paper A4 size is ok

Paper: for experienced artists: watercolour paper, 300gsm cold press rough 100% rag (cotton). My preference is  Fabriano paper; Arches or Saunders Waterford are also great papers. Cheap papers will not take the water. 2 full sheets for the term. You will also need an A3 pad of Fabriano 25% cotton.

Brushes:

A Colineo Da Vinci Brush size 20 ( or 24  if available)

OR A  20/22 cosmotop mop Code DV 5580/22

And a smaller colineo, size 10

or Code DV 559808  12/14 watercolour brush (da vinci is a great brand)

Lidded plastic palette Expression Palette, lidded EX 18568

Kneadable rubber

2B graphite pencil

board for attaching paper this can be corflute or similar, about A2 size.  

Masking tape

Bring from home: ice cream container and a smaller one which will fit inside this, for water, old towel, (not paper), a sketch book A4 size.

Supplies

Students are required to bring their own art supplies.
