SIW: Wax Carving for Jewellery Workshop with Sarina Iwabuchi

Make your very own ring using the ancient technique of lost wax casting. Wax rings will be cast and finished for you to be picked up a few weeks after the workshop.

Description

You will learn the ancient technique of lost wax casting, which involves carving out a design from jeweller's wax. You will first sketch a design of your ring on paper before shaping a wax ring into your design using carving tools, files, and sandpaper. You will have the option of creating a continuous band or a signet style ring (the starting shape of your wax will be different depending on what type of ring you wish to make). These will be sized to your preference before you begin carving out your design. The various tools will allow you to make intricate designs as well as more organic textures. The possibilities with wax carving are endless! Once you have completed your wax ring, they will be taken away to be cast in sterling silver. They will then be finished for you, ready for pick up.    Sample rings will be available to view on the day for inspiration.
