NWA Develop Your Style Further with Pastels with Nicola Warner

Enjoy building confidence and skill using soft pastels. Each week you will learn different techniques, tips and tricks to help you improve your pastel skills.

Description

With the assistance of pastel artist Nicola Warner you will use the pastel techniques you are learning to work at your own pace on landscape or still life paintings of your choice.

 It’s a perfect next step for people who took Nicola’s term one class. The class is also suitable for beginners and intermediate artists.

Cost Breakdown Member: $202.5 Incl. GST = $33.75 per class ($11.25 per hour)

Cost Breakdown Non Member: $225.00 Incl. GST = $37.50 per class ($12.50 per hour).

Supplies

What to bring: 

Paper

Pastelmat either 24x30cm pad or 30x40cm pad in “No 2” (4 colours) or "No 6” (anthracite). 

 

Soft Pastels (not oil pastels). 

Bring whatever you have. If you are buying new, choose a smaller number of artist quality pastels in a range of darks, mids, lights eg. Unison, Schmincke, Art Spectrum, Rembrandt, Sennelier

Suggested starter sets available in NZ:

1. Unison landscape 16 half sticks (if you’re really treating yourself the Unison 120 stick starter set is great) 

2. Art Spectrum 40 half sticks or Extra Soft square pastel set of 20 ’Temperate Landscape'  Also lots of small sets of colours available eg. Greens, blues, darks, lights

3. Sennelier 1/2 stick sets of 6 (eg. Seascape, skies, greens) 

 

Essential (some sets will contain these already and Nicola will have some available to buy):

One very dark blue, green or purple pastel eg. Art Spectrum Flinders Blue Violet D, Unison Dark 7,19 or 20, Unison A49, Sennelier 179 or 463 or similar

One very light soft pastel eg. Art spectrum extra soft 501 warm white, 502 lemon yellow, Schmincke 007O titanium yellow, 002O Perm Yellow 2 Light
