In this beginners / intermediate class you will learn the basics of throwing clay on the wheel with our amazing tutor Judith Kersten.

Description

In this beginners / intermediate class our experienced tutor, Judith will take you through the basics of throwing clay on the wheel.   You will learn about the different clay types and what you can do with them. 

This course covers all the basic essentials regarding wheel work,  e.g., 

How to wedge your clay and prepare it for throwing on the wheel;

How to center your clay on the wheel; 

How to make bowls, cups and cylinders and other items   

How to trim your leather hard items.;

How to prepare your items for bisque firing;

How to glaze and decorate your bisque items is also covered in this course and much more.

You will take home your own unique items which you can gift to family and friends.

Cost Breakdown Member: $247.50 Incl. GST = $30.94 per class ($11.25 per hour)

Cost Breakdown Non Member: $275.00 Incl. GST = $34.38 per class ($12.50 per hour).

Please Note: Thee will be no class on Monday, 2 June : King's Birthday Holiday

 

Prerequisites

Beginners welcome.

Intermediates are welcome to join to brush up on skills.

Supplies

Clay can be purchased at the Estuary Arts Centre,  $39.00 for 10kg.

Firing and glazing cost extra.

Pottery tools can be purchased from KMart or any 2Dollar store.
