SSW: Glazing Chemistry and Techniques with Sylvia Sinel

Do you want to dive deeper into the exciting world of glaze technology with Sylvia Sinel and get a better understanding of how to enhance your work with colour and texture?

Description

Do you want to be able to mix your own glazes from a recipe? Then come along on this glaze adventure guided by ceramic artist Sylvia Sinel.

In this workshop we will talk about the raw materials and chemical building blocks of a glaze, and what properties they have in the firing process.  We will use a clear glaze recipe as a reference point, so the theory we we will talk about becomes practicable and easy to understand.   We will mix the recipe together and go through the process from start to finish.

When you leave, you will be able to mix a clear glaze recipe, understand the properties of the ingredients.  You will be able to make your own test tiles, add colour to the recipe and make a line blend.   You will also understand what equipment you need and how to work safely with the materials in your own practice.
