ABA: Monday Beginners Mixed Wheel Throwing with Ara Bosch

Ever wanted to learn how to throw on a Potter's wheel? Then this beginners / intermediate class for you. A practical hands on fun class.

Description

This class is a mixed class for those who wish to learn how to throw on the wheel or extend their throwing skills.

 For beginners the focus will be on throwing cylinders which is the basis of most pottery forms, and bowls. You will also learn how to trim and tidy your pieces. For those who have already mastered this, you will learn to make galleries, lids, handles and spouts.

 Towards the end of term you will learn the basics of glazing.

Clay can be purchased at EAC on the first day.  

Firing and glazing costs are extra.

Cost Breakdown Member: $270.00 Incl. GST = $33.75 per class ($11.25 per hour)

Cost Breakdown Non Member: $300.00 Incl. GST = $37.50 per class ($12.50 per hour).

Prerequisites

Beginners / intermediates welcome.

Supplies

Clay recommendations PW20, Macs Stoneware Buff or Classic White or any other cone 6 stoneware clay. This can be purchased at CCG or at the Estuary Arts Centre on the first night of class.

Beginners are advised to buy their own pottery starter tool kit from CCG or Gordon Harris or Kmart or any 2Dollar store.

Wear old clothes and shoes.

Bring a towel and plastic bag.
