Description

This class is for watercolour artists with some previous experience in watercolour painting.

Explore all the fascinating intricacies of watercolour painting with this exciting medium. Students are professionally guided through a series of structured workshops each exploring a specific skill set to create vibrant sparkling paintings in watercolour. Pauline is a skilled and passionate tutor and you will be amazed at the results you will achieve. 

Cost Breakdown Members: $238.50 Incl GST = $29.81per class ($11.93 per hour)

Cost Breakdown Non Member: $265.00 Incl GST  = $33.13 per class ($13.25 per hour)

Prerequisites

This class is for watercolour artists with some previous experience in watercolour painting.

Supplies

Students are required to bring their own art supplies.

Students with existing materials, need to bring what they have. Tutor will assess on first day. Make sure you have plenty of practice paper plus a quarter sheet of high quality paper for each lesson.

Materials are available from Gordon Harris in Albany, up by the North Shore district courthouse.  They have a list of these materials. Some paints can be purchased from Whitcoulls, Paper Plus, or Warehouse Stationery. Please note that the cost of materials could be about $200 as you are enrolling on a class where the materials can be used for many years.

Paint student grade is fine, artist quality optional: 

Tube paints please. ultramarine blue, cobalt blue, new gamboge, raw sienna, alizarin crimson, cadmium red, burnt sienna, Indigo.

Optional other colours Van Dyke brown, New Gamboge yellow, Prussian blue, Hookers green, phthalo green/blue,  perylene green.  Use Horadam, Winsor Newton, Cottmans all reliable brands for paint.

 Do not get Reeves, or Marie’s paint or paper.

Paper for all  artists:

For the term: 2 full sheets of watercolour paper, (approx. $15.00 per sheet) 300gsm cold press rough 100% rag (cotton), Extra White or Traditional White or one of each.  New students bring entire sheet, you will be shown how to cut it. Choose from Fabriano, Arches or Saunders Waterford, all high quality papers. Cheap papers will not take the water  for wet on wet painting.

Practice paper: Fabriano 25% cotton, 1264 pad, 300gsm retails at $35.99. (Or similar).

Brushes: Da Vinci Colineo brand is great, Size 20,  (and 10 optional).

Folder for storing art work, A3 size  (optional)

Lidded plastic palette

Kneadable rubber

2B graphite pencil

Board for attaching paper this can be hard board, or  foam board,  about A3 size.  No not get the drawing  board with the fixed clips it is too big.

Masking tape
