JBA2.1: Fine Art Photography with Jonathan Bourla
This six week course will cover all the bases for producing beautiful photographs, geared towards Black and White but applicable to colour photography too.
Description
The course will take away the guesswork from the participants’ photography, putting them in control, and able to produce beautiful photographs with their own individual aesthetic and qualities. From composition, lighting, and camera settings, through to digital manipulation
using photo editing software and finally on to making a quality print to be proud of.
Geared towards Black and White, but applicable to colour too, participants will gain a thorough understanding of the controls on their cameras and subsequent effects, with an appreciation of best lighting and composition. Then on to refining their images in editing software and gaining a
knowledge of how best to prepare their files for printing. The participants will have time to practise hands-on taking photographs with their camera, and then later in the classroom working on their images on their own laptop computer. The tutor is happy to make each participant a physical fine art photographic print from the image they’ve been working on at a
nominal charge.
The tutor is Jonathan Bourla, a fine art photographer living in Snells Beach. His photographic style was inspired by the American West Coast movement of the middle of last century, notably photographers Ansel Adams and Howard Bond. Jonathan’s photography has been widely published, particularly overseas, and recent accolades include receiving Honourable Mentions in both Paris and Tokyo International Photography Awards.
