JBA: Digital Photography Post Processing Course with Jonathan Bourla

Our expert photography tutor Jonathan Bourla will show you all the tricks of the trade when it comes to Digital Photography Post Processing to get the best results.

Description

The great American photographer Ansel Adams, who was a master at black and white film photography, made an interesting musical analogy about photography.  He said “the negative is the score, and the printing is the performance”.  What he meant was the exposure he made with his camera on film was only the start of his photographic process, and it was in the various techniques used in printing where he would create his interpretation, his performance, of this initial exposure and make his artistically inspired finished photograph.

Today with the majority of photographers using digital cameras this performance is carried out on a computer using a photo editing software programme such as Photoshop, and is known as “Post Processing”.

In this six week course New Zealand fine art photographer Jonathan Bourla will take participants through various stages and techniques on Photoshop (and the very similar free browser-based Photopea leading to settings to use to get great looking prints.

Jonathan will also show examples of photographs from recognised Master photographers to give participants inspiration in their own work.

This course is applicable to both Black & White and Colour photography.

The tutor will be happy to print a finished photograph for the favourite image each class member has been working on at a small additional charge for materials.
